An Evening with Emory Lester

- Join Emory for an inspiring and eclectic evening of amazing mandolin and guitar playing, vocals and humor Emory will feature songs from his noted recordings
'At Dusk', 'Reminiscing Today', 'Cruisin' the 8', and 'Pale Rider'

Emory Lester is one of this day’s foremost exponents of the acoustic mandolin. His landmark recording projects have placed him among the elite mandolinists of our time. Undeniably, his clean, clear, fast and efficient mandolin techniques continue to influence many modern day mandolinists.

He has performed with noted celebrities and artists including Steve Martin on the 'Late Night with David Letterman' television show, Tony Rice, David Grisman, Mike Marshall, Babik Reinhardt (late son of Djanjo Reinhardt), and currently performs with noted banjoist Mark Johnson, guitarist Francois Vola, and vocalist Wayne Taylor, as well as his own 'Emory Lester Set' trio, and bluegrass band with his wife Jill Jones.

A life-long Virginia native, now residing in Ontario Canada, Emory has been teaching master series workshops at events such as the Steve Kaufman Acoustic Kamp, the Mandolin Symposium, the Swannanoa Gathering, the Goderich Celtic College, the Acoustic Alaska Guitar Camp, the Transatlantic Bluegrass School in Wales U.K. and many other prestigious schools and workshops far and wide.

Beats in the Bitterroot Summer Camp w/Shakewell

We are very excited to announce our first annual week long summer music camp, Beats in the Bitterroot! This year’s teachers include members of Missoula funk band Shakewell, as well as local music teachers from across the valley.

Workshops throughout the week include: Songwriting, Science of Sound, Digital Production, Hand Drumming, Jam with the Band, Beat Lab, Theory, Sight Reading, Voice, and more!

The camp will conclude on Friday evening with a student performance, followed by a Shakewell show at the Bitter Root Brewery.

$300 - Includes: T-Shirt + Flash Drive containing student projects and pictures! 

Ages: 9-12 & 13-18

Annual Fundraiser with the Big Sky Mud Flaps

 

 The Bitterroot School of Music is proud to announce the 2017 Annual Fundraiser featuring the Big Sky Mud Flaps, local food and brews. The evening festivities will begin at 6pm with a student recital followed by America’s favorite swing band, the Big Sky Mud Flaps. Please join them at the Bedford Building April 15th, 6 to 10 pm, in downtown Hamilton to celebrate great music, local food and a unique and diverse community. There will be a silent action and a raffle for a Vintage Harmony Archtop Guitar. 

All donations support the Bitterroot School of Music programming, outreach, student and instrument scholarship programs. 

This is a free event, open to the public. Donations are Welcomed!
